FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kettle Cuisine’s Love Affair with the Tomato
Soups, Chilis and
Chowders all start with the best quality tomatoes available!
(Winter 2009) Kettle
Cuisine, Inc. of Chelsea, MA makes over fifty (50) varieties
of fresh refrigerated and select frozen soups for foodservice
operators and grocers. The fact that more than a dozen of
their best selling, all natural soups incorporate tomatoes in
some fashion is not coincidence. For centuries, tomatoes have
been at the heart of favorite soups, stews, chilis and
chowders from all over the world, and for good reason― they
taste great!

Tomato & Garden
Vegetable Soup
Fresh garden vegetables including squash, celery, carrots,
green and wax beans cooked with red-ripe California
tomatoes and Italian seasonings. |

Turkey Chili with Beans
A hearty chili made from lean, diced turkey
with traditional Southwestern chili seasonings, small red
beans, tomatoes, peppers, onions and green chilies. |

Maryland Vegetable
Crab Soup
A traditional Maryland-style soup created from crab
together with fresh root and leaf vegetables, tomato
filets, and finished with traditional crab seasonings. |
But there’s more
to the tomato story. Nutritional research shows that tomatoes
are rich in vitamin C and potassium. They also contain
phytosterols which have been shown to decrease LDL
cholesterol, beta-carotene which can help boost the immune
system, and lycopene, a potent antioxidant that
may help prevent prostate cancer
and some other forms of cancer, heart disease, and other
serious diseases.
Lucky for tomato soup lovers, lycopene actually increases
when tomatoes are cooked.
Kettle Cuisine’s
Executive Chef Volker Frick says, “Different soups call for
different varieties of tomatoes and tomato preparations
dependent upon the soup’s balance of taste and texture. For
example, our Minestrone Soup calls for tomato paste and
diced tomatoes in juice to achieve the right texture, however
Chicken Fajita Soup with Fire-Roasted Vegetables uses
tomato filets and tomato puree to perfect the consistency and
blend of flavors and spices. We always use the best high
quality ingredients available for our soups including real
tomato products that are minimally processed (not from
concentrates) and range from diced tomatoes and tomato paste
to tomato filets and purees. Many of our soups start with
vegetable, beef, chicken or fish stocks made fresh from
scratch daily, the old fashioned way.”
